This Tool is now available from Robert Sorby or Turners Retreat (Craft Supplies) A simple design, which enables the user to accurately cut the groove, which is essential for fitting the main body of the CrushGrind Stem pepper/salt grinders. The CrushGrind mechanism has two sprung clips, which must locate into a groove. This will stop the mechanism from being pushed out of the wooden body. The tool blade is shaped in such a way, that the groove will always be the correct distance ( 29 mm ) from the shoulder, against which the mechanism sits. Using the tool, shown above, the turner should bring the rear of the recess up to the wooden shoulder and, then, tilt into the wood so that the cutter at the tip cuts the groove. The V notch, on the top, should be used to line up with the base of the top of the mill, so that the drive plug, similarly, fits correctly into a groove. With this new tool, it is no longer a problem if you find that you have drilled the large, 38 mm (1 1/2") diameter hole too deep. The groove will always be in the correct place!
